Letterpress
I’ve had clients recently asking me to design business cards for them that stand out. It’s getting harder and harder to stand out from the crowd so a beautiful business card could be one way to accomplish this. I’ve always been a fan of letterpress and love to use it whenever I can in print projects.
Here are a few examples of Letterpress business cards. For fun I thought I’d throw 3 of my own designs in there :)

Fontsquirrel
Fontsquirrel is a great resource for free web fonts. Not all of the fonts are great but some are. They’re also really simple to insert into your site.
This is a small selection of fonts that I Iike from said site.

Bloat In Web Design
It could be down to the fact that I’m from a graphic design print background, but I like negative space. When used well it can be very effective. Like this Drive image.
Negative space isn’t that common in web design. I recently had a client tell me that a page I’d designed, which I was really quite happy with, looked unfinished. Why? Because I’d not crammed text and images into every last pixel of screen real estate? I’m hoping the growing mobile first approach will help to change this. As on such small screens only essential content is provided. But if that’s the case, once the screen size grows, why do we need to start adding in more content that was deemed not needed on a mobile device? Why not just make a cleaner prettier page for a big screen? That’s what I hope mobile first will bring.
